Description
UV-Protective Acrylic for Picture Framing, Galleries & Museum Display
Plexiglas® XT UV100 (grade 0A570) is manufactured by Röhm GmbH (Germany) and is the benchmark UV-protective acrylic glazing material for the professional framing, gallery, and conservation industry. KF Plastics supplies full sheets ex-stock from our Sydney facility. Available for pickup or freight quoted delivery across Australia.
Why UV-protective acrylic instead of standard picture glass?
Conventional picture glazing (float glass) blocks less than 40% of UV radiation. Plexiglas® XT UV100 blocks 99.7% of UV-A and UV-B radiation (280–380 nm range, verified to DIN EN 410). For artworks, photographs, documents, and archival objects on display, this is the difference between decades of protection and visible fading within years.
Unlike glass, Plexiglas® XT UV100 is shatter-resistant and weighs approximately half as much — making it safer to handle during framing, lighter on wall fixings, and cheaper to freight.

Who uses this product?
Plexiglas® XT UV100 is the glazing material of choice for:
- Professional picture framers — standard specification for conservation-grade framing jobs
- Commercial art galleries — protection for high-value artworks in naturally lit or artificially lit spaces
- Museums and public institutions — accepted as an alternative to conservation glass for display cases and vitrines
- Corporate art collections — framing works displayed in offices with fluorescent or LED lighting
- Photographers and printmakers — protecting limited edition prints, giclée, and archival photographs
- Conservation studios — glazing for treatment frames and temporary display
Fabrication and processing
Plexiglas® XT UV100 processes identically to standard acrylic sheet. It can be cut straight on a panel saw, routed, laser cut, thermoformed, and bonded using standard acrylic solvents. KF Plastics can supply cut-to-size pieces with saw-cut or machine-polished edges.
Frequently asked questions
Is Plexiglas® XT UV100 the same as “Gallery Glass” or “Museum Glass”?
No. “Museum Glass” is a trademarked glass product. Plexiglas® XT UV100 is an acrylic (plastic) product that provides comparable or superior UV protection to museum glass at lower weight and cost, and with superior shatter resistance. It is not glass.
Can I get it cut to size in Sydney?
Yes. KF Plastics offers cut-to-size acrylic fabrication from our Moorebank facility. We cut to your specified dimensions with straight saw-cut or machine-polished edges. Contact us with your dimensions and quantity for a quote. Minimum order quantities apply.
What is the difference between the UV100 glossy and UV100 AR grades?
The standard UV100 glossy sheet has a clear, highly transparent surface on both sides. The AR (anti-reflective) variant has a slightly matted surface on one side that diffuses reflections from windows, lamps, and overhead lighting. AR is recommended for display environments with strong directional light sources where reflections would otherwise obscure the artwork.
How does this compare to standard acrylic sheet for UV protection?
Standard clear acrylic sheet provides minimal UV protection — similar to float glass, typically less than 40% in the UV-A/UV-B range. Plexiglas® XT UV100 provides 99.7% UV protection at 3 mm thickness. The UV absorbers are incorporated into the material during manufacture, so they cannot be scratched off or degrade with cleaning.
Do you stock offcuts?
Yes, offcuts are frequently available from production. Contact us to check current stock and sizes — offcuts are well suited to smaller framing jobs where a full sheet is not required.
What is the lead time for Sydney orders?
Cut-to-size orders are generally ready within 2–3 business days. Contact us to confirm before ordering if timing is critical.
