Boat Window Replacement – Custom Acrylic & Polycarbonate Windows

Boat windows don’t last forever. Over time they can become crazed, scratched, yellowed or opaque. At KF Plastics, we manufacture custom replacement boat windows in both acrylic and polycarbonate, cut and formed to suit your existing frames.

We focus on the window panels only. We do not remove frames or install rubber seals our role is to supply accurately cut and formed plastic windows ready for refitting.

Acrylic vs Polycarbonate: Choosing the Right Material

We work in both materials and will quote either depending on your requirements and budget.

  • Acrylic (Most common choice)
    • Clear, glossy finish
    • Good scratch resistance for marine use
    • Easier to cut, polish and form
    • More tint and colour options
    • Typically more cost-effective
  • Polycarbonate (When impact resistance is required)
    • Extremely strong and impact resistant
    • More expensive
    • Scratches more easily
    • Limited tint options

We generally recommend acrylic for most boat window replacements, but if you specifically require polycarbonate, we are happy to quote and manufacture in that material.

How We Make Your Windows

For accuracy, we prefer to work from your existing windows wherever possible. We use them as templates to trace and cut the new panels.

If you don’t have your old windows available, you can also supply:

  • A thin timber template
  • A dimensioned drawing or DXF file
  • Cardboard or paper templates (if required)

Bending & Forming

  • We can bend windows on one radius only, we can’t do compound bends.
  • Small radius bends are achievable with standard heat bending
  • Large or compound curves require thermoforming or drape forming.
  • These processes are possible but are more complex and higher cost.

We will advise if your window shape requires standard bending or full forming before production starts.

Drilling & Fixing Holes

We generally do not pre drill fixing holes in boat windows.

Once frames are removed and refitted, alignment can change. Pre drilled holes often don’t line up and can introduce stress points that lead to cracking. We recommend fitting first and drilling on site if required.

Thickness, Rebates & Fit

To quote accurately we need to know:

  • Required material thickness
  • sizes of each window when flat
  • Whether the edge is rebated to fit into a frame
  • Or if a thinner sheet will sit into an existing channel

We supply the window panels only. We do not provide rubber seals or aluminium frames.

Colours & Finishes

  • Clear
  • Grey / Smokey tint
  • Other tints available depending on thickness and stock

Edges can be supplied as saw cut or polished depending on your preference.
