High impact polystyrene – or HIPS for short – is another lightweight but tough material. It has superb forming properties and is ideal for signage applications. HIPS is a low-cost, digital and screen printable option and, as its name suggests, offers high impact resistance. It is a material that is often used for such items as point-of-sale displays and other display stands as well as model making and cutlery trays.
